OHSL was a prominent participant in last month’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration at Tata Memorial Center as it celebrated 75 years of cancer treatment in India. OHSL’s Denise Leonard co-organized the three day event at Tata Memorial Center in Mumbai, India, working closely with the Chairperson, Dr. Rajendra A. Badwe, Director of TMC, and Organizing Secretary, Dr. Sudeep Gupta, Deputy Director of TMC’s ACTREC.

During the event, Anil Srivastava, President of OHSL, and Dr. Kim Lyerly of Duke University and Chair of OHSL’s Council of Advisors in Science & Technology, each chaired sessions and participated in panels. A copy of the conference program can be found here. All three, as well as Dr. Patrick Richard of the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS) and an OHSL collaborator, served on the conference’s Scientific Advisory Committee.

On the second day of the conference, Nobel Laureate Dr. Amartya Sen gave a stirring oration on ‘HEALTHCARE FOR ALL – WHY AND HOW’.

As the theme of the conference was on the provision of health care, the participants at the end signed the Mumbai Declaration calling on governments to prioritize healthcare and commit to Universal Health Care.
